How we work

FOOD RELIEF DURING COVID-19 CRISES

  • An ongoing plan to reach out to most vulnerable households of the tea gardens/villages by Catholic Diocese of Bagdogra Food & Health Relief Team and in collaboration with other networks in the region. We reached 6422 households in around 66 locations/tea gardens/villages.

  • The large numbers of listed poor persons at household wise are going through critical times for not having government ration card during lockdown period as they are Bigha workers in tea gardens or daily wage workers and dependant workers. The food security safety net was not ensured for these groups who are facing a huge crisis for food and cash during lockdown period. They need government ration card as earliest in order to protect themselves from hunger and starvation.

  • To make the intervention more impactful. We can also pay more attention towards helping them filling the food relief coupon to have access to ration and other relief measures of state and centre government.

  • To create awareness on Health safety & Government welfare schemes under “Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna” a central government welfare schemes during and after lockdown period economic packages in reaching to the people in Siliguri sub-Division and in Dooars.
