Since 2016, HLDRC is conducting different types of Job Training and Placement drive for the poor and tea garden’s youth. The various courses provided are- Computer Hardware & Networking, Hospitality & Retail Management and Tata Affirmative Action Program. General Duty Assistant, Motor Mechanic, Electrician are few of such training programs which are provided out of stations with minimum financial support to ST tea garden candidates.
HLDRC is mainly working for the upliftment of marginalised section of the society, especially the youth of tea garden in North Bengal. For this purpose HLDRC has worked out systematically to make access to Job Training and Placement drive in cluster planning closer to their home location, so that they can easily access the training centre.
In the present scenario employment opportunities in government sector is becoming more difficult for the youth of rural background. HLDRC has taken very special care towards the graduated youth through Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) who are looking for employment after their studies. TCS provides expert trainers from the Tata Company and after the training, students are placed in the job. Training students for private company jobs towards corporate sector employment, reduces the unemployment rate. All in above training and placement drive conducted, around 70% are tribal candidates and in out station total placement of girls are more than 50%. Through these types of training and placement drive, selected youth are getting financial support to assist his/her family. In the year 2020 followed by 2021 HLDRC failed to conduct this program due to Covid-19 protocols; however one batch of computer hardware with limited number was completed in the year 2021.

Among the above mentioned training programs, Tata Affirmative Action Program or Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is the best success model where students are getting higher soft skill, general knowledge, corporate team building, reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude and conversation in English with the higher salary in the job. Job Placement rate is not so good but skills acquired within 100 hours are excellent in the program. The candidates who do not get selected in Tata Consultancy Services are getting opportunities in other sectors due to their skills and ability which they acquire from such training.
Through this program an average of 37% youth got placement and since last 7 years it has created a milestone in job and placement drive, 354 youth (girls and boys) got placed in different sectors.
