Training of Trainers (ToT):
Since 2013, our organization Human Life Development and Research Centre working in deferent fields, like women empowerment, human trafficking, computer education etc and also in the field of leadership. Leadership is a very important field where our tea garden people are lacking and for lack of leadership in communities, no one can fight for the interest of tea garden people. Thorough the initiatives of JESA, a program called “Jan Netritva Pahal” were started in the year of 2015. The main objective of this program is to create grass root level community leaders in all tribal areas of Jharkhand, Bihar and west Bengal. Mr. Paul Lakra is the coordinator of this project in our centre under the supervision of Fr. Pascal Xalxo SJ. There are ably supported by two assistants- Mr.Elesius Lakra (in Darjeeling Terai) and Ms. Dipika Sarkee (in Jalpaiguri Dooars).
Every year the TOTs of our centre go for training to Namkum (Ranchi) and on return they conduct trainings for the selected leaders of different tea gardens. In 2016 the focus of training was changed from mere talks on leadership to more practical one, that is, how to communicate people by use of cartoons. How we can make a grass root level comics as a media of communication, which is the cheapest and easiest way to communicate with ordinary people.
On 30th January 2017, there was a meeting organized by Right to Food Campaign, West Bengal at LPC Matigara and discussion focused on different activities we should do in the coming days. And it was finalized that we conduct “Thala Bajao” program from 2- 9th February, 2017 in and submit a memorandum to each B.D.Os of 4(four) blocks of Siliguri Sub_division. The date was finalized as follows: – Naxalbari-6/02/2017, Matigara-7/02/2017, Phansidewa-8/02/2017 and Kharibari-9/02/2017.
In 2018 two important leadership seminars were conducted- one for 55 new SHG members and the other one for the young leaders and HLDRC volunteers both at Loyola Pastoral Centre, Matigara. The new features about these leadership programs was the inputs on Plantation Labour Act 1951 and Land Rights besides other aspects of SHG and government schemes.
